What is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement which takes place annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. On December 3, 2019 hundreds of millions of people around the world will turn their focus from the merriment of the holidays to give generously to the organizations around the world that are making an impact.

Once Thanksgiving is behind us, and you’ve shopped all the Black Friday deals, we invite you to celebrate generosity and support the North Country HealthCare Foundation on GivingTuesday. It’s another day during the year when we pause to consider the organizations in our own communities that change lives every day.

Where it all began

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 with the simple idea to encourage people to do good. It was founded by New York’s 92^nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. Last July GivingTuesday became its own organization, whose board is made up of leaders from across the philanthropy and volunteering sector.

“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year.” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”

Last year, over $400 million were raised online on GivingTuesday, and organizations participated from over 150 countries.

How to participate

We invite you to support the North Country HealthCare Foundation by donating online on our Donate Page. When you give, you can choose which specific program to donate: Angel Fund, Behavioral Health, Dental Programs, Diabetes Education & Self Management, Girls on the Run, Hepatitis C Outreach & Education, John H. Caskey Endowment, NACASA, Maternal & Child Health, Prevent the Spread of HIV/AIDS, Teaching & Training, or Well Woman HealthCheck.
