Flagstaff Marathon Closure, Angel Fund Impact

For the past 12 years, the Flagstaff Marathon has been North Country HealthCare’s signature fundraising event. Proceeds from the event are directed to North Country HealthCare’s Angel Fund, which supports the needs of the uninsured and underinsured in our northern Arizona communities.

The impact of the dedicated support from North Country donors and from runners of the Flagstaff Marathon has been tremendous. Since the Marathon’s inception, we have raised nearly $150,000. This funding has allowed us to help countless patients across northern Arizona, as the Angel Fund supports over 100 patients in need annually.

The Angel Fund acts as a payer of last resort for North Country patients. This means that those who benefit have exhausted all other available resources before referral to the fund by their doctor. Most recipients of the Angel Fund are one-time recipients who are experiencing an unusual period of hardship, during which the support provided by the Angel Fund cannot be understated in getting patients back on their feet.

North Country HealthCare and the North Country HealthCare Foundation have made the difficult decision to discontinue the marathon so both organizations can focus on key development projects that can be leveraged to support as many North Country programs as possible.

September 15, 2018 will be the last running of the Flagstaff Marathon, but the Angel Fund still needs your support!
